Cornus 'Porlock' is a crossbreed between Cornus kousa and Cornus capitata (which is not winter proof/wintergreen) 'Porlock' flowers in May/June with flowers surrounded by b4 cream white bracts which attain some pink accents after a few weeks. In autumn, plenty strawberry-like fruits appear. It has a ascending growth habit but does not reach the size of its brother ‘Norman Hadden’ (around 2m). Its autumn colors are much less spectacular than Cornus kousa’s. During mild winters, ‘Porlock’ will not shed its leaves. It is not as winter proof as Cornus kousa, but when kept in a sheltered spot and protected against harsh conditions, 'Porlock' is well worth keeping in your garden. It is cared for in the same manner as the Cornus kousa.
