Cornus 'Ormonde' is a crossbreed between Cornus florida and Cornus nuttalli. Its leaves are egg shaped, shiny dark green and of a leather-like texture. In autumn, its leaves turn beautiful shades of deep red and purple and slightly curl. 'Ormonde's' flowers are similar to Cornus nuttalli and have bright white bracts which develop a light pink glow before they shed. Cornus 'Ormonde' has a more compact growth habit than all other nuttalli/florida crossbreeds and therefore remains smaller. Cornus 'Ormonde' grows under the same conditions as its parents and is winterproof.
