Cornus kousa 'Wieting's Select'was selected because of its spectacular autumn colors. Right at the start of autumn, the 'Wieting's Select' turns to bright red, which stays on until the leaves shed much later. In summertime its leaves are smoother than the kousa's and of a leather-like structure. It flowers abundantly and is very reliable. The bracts show a somewhat pinkish glow when they grow older. At the end of summer, the 'Wieting's Select' grows red strawberry-like fruits. Caring for 'Wieting's Select' is the same as the regular kousa, and the 'Wieting's Select' is winterproof.
