Cornus kousa 'Schmetterling'

This kousa cultivar has large egg-shaped leaves, and its flowers are as large as other cultivars' with overlapping bracts. It grows more firmly than the regular kousa due to its thicker young shoots. Cornus kousa 'Schemetterling' has a compact growth habit but can grow out to about 5m high. Its autumn color is yellow/red/orange. Caring for 'Schmetterling' is the same as the regular kousa, and the 'Schmetterling' is winterproof.
