Cornus kousa 'Gold Star'

This cultivar was selected because of its variegated leaves. 'Gold Star's' leaves have a yellow heart surrounded by a dark green edge. The plant flowers less abundantly than other cultivars and stands out less. It grows slowly, which makes it very suitable for the smaller gardens. In autumn, the 'Gold Star' attains the same red/orange/yellow mix of colors as the kousa and, combined with its multicolored leaves, is a spectacular sight. Caring for 'Gold Star' is the same as the regular kousa, and the 'Gold Star' is winterproof.
